Reading Group Questions
(1) Andrea "Andy" Kendricks
is something of a black sheep, dropping out of
her deb ball and defying her socialite mother
by going to art school and ultimately working
as a web designer. Do you think Andy's a good
example of how all of us, at some point in our
lives, feel like we don't fit in? Why or why not?
(2) Andy hasn't seen her
old friend Molly O'Brien in years, but doesn't
hesitate to help her when Molly issues a cry for
help. What would you do if an long-lost pal called
you in the middle of the night? Would you feel
the same loyalty? Do you think some friendships
are strong enough to withstand even years of separation?
(3) There's a theme of
mothers and daughters running through BLUE BLOOD
(and other books in the Debutante Dropout series).
What mother-daughter relationships are explored
in the book? How are they similar and how are
they different?
(4) At what point do you
think Cissy turned the corner and decided to help
Andy instead of trying to stop her from poking
into the investigation of Bud Hartman's murder?
Do you think Molly's son, David, had a hand in
changing her tune? If so, how?
