Reading Group Questions
(1) In what ways does
Andy realize her life and Kendall Mabry's run
parallel? Conversely, how are they different?
(2) Do you think Marilee
Mabry is a nasty person? Does she have some redeeming
qualities? Is her own background to blame for
her behavior?
(3) Did you sense from
the beginning what was going to happen to Marilee?
Were you surprised by any turn of events? Did
you like getting to know the suspects and how
they interacted with the victim before the crime
occurred?
(4) Marilee took her daughter
for granted, just as many daughters (including
Andy) often take their mothers for granted. Why
does it seem that we often hurt the people closest
to us? How do Andy and Cissy both come to respect
and accept their differences because of what they've
witnessed going on between Marilee and Kendall?
